EU Voices: Amplifying the Voices of EU Citizens in the UK
EU Voices is a new project designed to strengthen the participation, visibility and influence of EU citizens living in the UK. Through funding, training, community organising and advocacy, the project will support EU citizens and the grassroots organisations that represent them, helping communities build confidence, connect with one another and play a more active role in civic and democratic life.
The project is co-funded by the European Union and delivered by the3million and Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini (FGB). It reflects a shared commitment to protecting citizens' rights, supporting civil society and strengthening people-to-people connections between the European Union and the United Kingdom.

What EU Voices aims to achieve
EU Voices will work with civil society organisations, grassroots groups and EU citizens across the UK to:
- Strengthen community organisations through training, mentoring and grant funding
- Encourage civic and democratic participation
- Build stronger relationships between EU citizens, local communities and decision-makers
- Promote dialogue, inclusion and community cohesion
- Support the long-term sustainability of organisations working with EU citizens
By bringing people together, sharing skills and building confidence, EU Voices will help EU citizens feel more informed, connected and empowered to participate in public life.
Supporting grassroots organisations
Strong community organisations are essential to ensuring that EU citizens' voices are heard.
As part of the project, five grassroots organisations working with EU citizens will receive €20,000 in funding over two years through an open application process. The grants are intended for small, community-rooted organisations led by people with lived experience and committed to supporting EU citizens in the UK.
Successful organisations will also take part in a comprehensive capacity-building programme covering:
- Fundraising and organisational sustainability
- Communications and media engagement
- Community organising and leadership development
- Anti-oppression practice, racial justice and co-liberatory engagement
In addition, participants will join a learning exchange visit to Brussels, creating opportunities to connect directly with EU institutions and civil society networks from across Europe.
Alongside the funded programme, EU Voices will deliver events, workshops and resources open to a wider network of organisations supporting EU citizens.
Community organising and local engagement
Community organising is at the heart of EU Voices.
The project will work directly with people in local communities across the UK to build trust, strengthen relationships and encourage participation in civic life.
Activities will include:
- Community outreach sessions across the UK
- Engagement at cultural and community events organised by EU citizens
- Democratic participation workshops
- World Café conversations and citizens assemblies bringing together EU citizens and British residents to discuss shared local issues
These activities will help strengthen community ties, promote mutual understanding and ensure that grassroots experiences and concerns help shape future advocacy and policy discussions.
Turning community experience into advocacy
EU Voices will support organisations and communities to transform local experiences into powerful advocacy and public engagement.
The project will deliver:
- Rights-based information webinars for EU citizens
- Policy and advocacy reports highlighting community experiences
- Communications activities that strengthen collective action
- Opportunities for engagement with local, national and European decision-makers
By strengthening communication, advocacy and civic participation, EU Voices aims to ensure that EU citizens and the organisations that represent them can make their voices heard more effectively at every level.
