Strategic litigation

At the3million we aim to create systemic change which solves problems at the root and has significant impact for EU citizens and family members. 

We fight injustice through policy and advocacy work which is based on your experiences. We keep the government accountable on EU citizens’ rights, and strategic litigation is a part of how we achieve change. 

To date, we have issued a number of legal challenges, and we have also intervened in relevant legal cases. 

• We are building a strategic fighting fund to secure all EU citizens’ rights to access welfare, intervening in a series of legal cases.
• We won our cases against the Immigration Exemption in the Data Protection Act, securing safeguards for all migrants in accessing our own data held by the government.
• Significant changes affecting millions of people with pre-settled status were made following an important case brought by the Independent Monitoring Authority, in which we intervened.
