Kasia Durma elected as new Chair of the3million Board of Directors
We are delighted to announce that Kasia Durma has been elected as the new Chair of the3million’s Board of Directors.
Kasia first joined the3million’s Board in December 2025, bringing with her a wealth of experience in governance, strategic planning, organisational culture and human resources.
Professionally, Kasia is Head of People and Culture at an independent accountancy in Newcastle upon Tyne. She is also involved with One Million Women & Girls, a grassroots campaign in the North East championing the voices of women and girls in decision-making. The blend of strategic leadership experience and commitment to advocacy will be invaluable as the3million continues its work defending the rights of EU citizens and their families.
Speaking about her appointment Kasia said: “My family and I moved to the UK from Poland when I was 14 years old. The work of the3million matters enormously to me because it reflects something close to my heart and deeply rooted in the history of my own country: the extraordinary power of ordinary people coming together to create lasting change for others.
Like so many of you, I often feel angry and frustrated by the barriers and uncertainty that we - EU citizens - continue to face. I know how exhausting it can be to keep fighting for rights that should already be secure. But I also know what ordinary people can achieve when they stand together, speak up and refuse to accept that things cannot change.
That is what gives me hope and it is the spirit I want to bring to my role as Chair. There is still so much to do, and I am determined to help the3million build on everything we have achieved together, strengthen our collective voice and continue making a real difference in people’s lives.
I am incredibly grateful to my fellow Board members for their trust and encouragement. On behalf of the Board, I would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to Lara Parizotto for her dedication and leadership to date.”
Kasia takes over as Chair from Lara Parizotto, who has served on the Board since August 2024. Lara has made a significant contribution to the3million’s work during her time on the Board, bringing her expertise in migrant justice, democratic participation and campaigning. She has also been closely involved in work to ensure that migrants and EU citizens are able to have their voices heard in decisions that affect their lives.
After two years on the Board, Lara is stepping down as Chair and director. We are hugely grateful to Lara for everything she has contributed to the3million and wish her every success with her future projects.
“the3million was one of my very first political homes in the UK. I started volunteering at the3million when I was still at University and first became personally worried that I wouldn’t be able to finish my degree because of Brexit. the3million provided me that space to turn any anxiety into action. It has been an honour to go from a volunteer at the3million to the Chair of the Board and see from all aspects the incredible work the team, the Board, and our incredibly motivated community do day to day. I got to learn so much in every step of my journey with the3million and am glad I got to give back as a Director, ensuring the governance of the organisation is strong so the team can continue serving the community and holding the government to account - what we are best at! I will continue following the journey of the organisation as a colleague in my role as Executive Director at Migrant Democracy Project.”
We would like to thank Lara for her dedication and commitment to the3million and welcome Kasia to her new role as Chair.
The3million’s Board of Directors plays an important role in providing oversight, governance and strategic direction for the organisation, supporting our work to ensure that EU citizens and their families can live, work and build their lives in the UK with their rights protected. Our current Board includes directors with experience across campaigning, community organising, governance, immigration law, human resources and other areas of expertise.
We look forward to working with Kasia in her new role and continuing our work together to give a voice to EU citizens across the UK.
